Tips for Improving Your Beauty Business

Tips For Improving Your Salon Business

Hey guys!

Today I wanted to share some tactics that I personally use to ensure my skin care and waxing spa business runs smoothly. As you may know, I’m the sole skin care specialist in my spa suite and I’m always looking for ways to improve my business and make it more successful. These tips would be helpful for anyone working in the beauty industry or if you are in the service industry, so I hope you enjoy. Now let’s get started!

Set up an online booking system for your clients.

I’ve found this tactic to be extremely successful for my new business. I personally use Setmore for my salon booking page, and I’ve linked it to my Facebook, Blog, and website. This allows me to create a “Book Now” button at the top of my Facebook, Website, Blog, and etc. where clients can book appointments themselves. I’ve gotten some amazing feedback on how convenient and easy to use it is. I also enjoy that my clients can book an appointment 24/7 without having to wait for my normal business hours to speak with me.

Create salon policy and implement them for everyone!

I cannot stress the importance of having “rules” or policies for your business. I didn’t have anything in place when I originally opened my salon, and I had issues very quickly. I’ve since learned that I needed policies for payments, tardiness, and no-shows. After having clients show up 10-15 minutes late to appointments  or not showing up at all I decided to create a spa policy and most importantly implement those policy.

♥ Every new Facial Clients are required to schedule The complimentary skin care/product consultation with their first Skin Care Treatment with me.

♥ If any client is 10 minutes or more late to 2 appointments, They will be sent a $50 invoice via Email. They will not be allowed to schedule any future appointment until that invoice it paid in full. No exceptions.

♥ I have a strict 24 hour cancellation/rescheduling policy.  I inform every new client of my cancellation/rescheduling policy via call, text, and e-mail. I go the extra mile to make it  clear so that my clients a well aware of the policy. I always inform everyone in order for them to the $50-$150. I don't make any exception. There's NO surprises or bias treatments. No exceptions.

This may seem harsh at first, but as a skin care specialist,  nail technician or hair stylist, barber,  tattoo artist, and etc., your time is money. If you see that you have a problem with lateness or no-shows, it’s time to implement better policies and make sure you follow though.

As a professional you value your customers and their time. You should expect them same in return.

Get all of your clients information about their service beforehand.

I’ve ran into the problem of clients booking a waxing appointment and  not telling me that they are using other product that could contradict the waxing treatment. This poses a serious problem. I don't perform any  service with out a consultation. I need to know what products and medicine my clients are currently using at  home. This protects the clients as  well as myself.

So I now have clients tell me a little more during the online booking process. and have them fill out a client consultation form prior to me starting any service on a new client. I also have my clients update every visit - A lot can change between appointments.

This allows me to adjust accordingly.

Thank you all so much for reading! I really hope these tips were helpful and gave you some inspiration for your own business or salon. If you have any of your own tips to add, please leave them in the comments below the blog post. I hope your day is awesome!

Be the best version of your self today and every day!
